How?
So forget having to make students pass a writing proficiency test. Or a math aptitude test. Or checking their G.P.A. before granting entrance. They should test on whether they can operate a photocopier. Sure, it may not be a balanced reflection on a person's academic abilities. But after spending more than two hours in the library reserve room making copies I am stunned. I had to show three people how to operate the complicated gizmo. I was even asked "where do I put the book." Make it part of the application process. "Fill in your name in blue or black ink. Not pink, purple sparkles, or yellow crayon. Make two copies and return in the envelope provided." Next test..... can they figure out how to use the post office?
