More museum fun!

So today was spent at NMAI. What an amazing space. I'm too tired to describe it. So a few pictures instead.


The entrance has a variety of tee pees, adobe, and such. All made of natural materials to breakdown and be rebuilt over time.

The exterior has a variety of native plants, such as sunflowers that the blackbirds love.

Looking down to the entrance from the fourth story. Such a beautiful space. The entrance is lined with a copper sculpture. And the cafeteria serves bbq buffalo.

Day 3

Went to the Library of Congress (thanks for the suggestion). Wow! That was amazing. Sooo much fun. They also have a temporary exhibit on the "Crystal Skull." Did I mention wow? They still use vacuum tubes to send book requests up to the deck where a librarian finds the book and sends it down a dumbwaiter. They have 5,000 employees plus 1,400 librarians. And a great little bistro nearby.

Out of town

So I made it to DC. It was a fun flight out. No, really, it was. I met an interesting group of hiker chics on my first flight, ended up having lunch with them on a 3 hour layover in Colorado, and read my (Holly's) book on the last flight.
Not much sleep last night, crashed early tonight after a fun dinner out, now up again. Hoping insomnia isn't creeping back.
Lots of fun shopping and a handy Starbucks a short walk away. Things I love about cities. Tomorrow I'll work on a few proper tourist things. Maybe a little pool side time, weather permitting.

Productive day

Yesterday I -
1. Cut off hair and donated to locks of love. (Hair shock is setting in)
1.5 Bought a flat iron and new hair product.
2. Found an apartment in midtown. A very cute, just the right size, spot for my bike, 1 bedroom!
3. Set up a second interview for an admin job.
4. Contacted everyone on my list that are loaning items for the fall exhibit. Worked on text.
5. Made a dent in the laundry
6. Looked up things to do in D.C. next week! I'm leaving Monday!! Pulled out the suitcase.
7. Did I mention chopping off my hair?
8. Going away shindig for a friend.

The list of things to do before leaving Monday is still pretty long. Oh, well! Teresa's wedding is today, I should go figure out what how to do the short hair.
