basket day

I spent the day with a few of my favorite people. Learning isn't the right word. Inspired might be a better fit. We spent the day with a wonderful basket historian who shared some of his knowledge with us. After a day I think I can say I have a good novice level in understanding some of the complexities of basketry techniques. Still so much to learn.

Polychrome rattlesnake design. Workface, right work direction.

Pinhole coil basket start.

Diagonal twining.

Happy bday hl!

Crunch

Today was a first. My first fender bender. Sure, my car has ended up in the ditch after a snow storm a time or three. This was this first time involving other vehicles. So as I was stopping, the guy behind me hit my car pushing me into the car in front of me. The impact was enough to lay my seat back. I'm sure I'll be feeling that tomorrow. Otherwise- the front and rear bumper are a little crunched. The car is still drivable. My poor pretty car. The month of May has not been overall my favorite.

What missing from this picture? Yep, just realized I lost my front plate. Good times.

Minor Victories

Ah, the joys of driving a convertible. The top down on a sunny day, wind blowing, the sound of the ocean......... wait..... the ocean is over 100 miles to the west.... crap. A clogged drain and no discernible access to be found. I've spent the better part of a month trying to find the source. Enter my wonderful computer friend, the joy that is the internet, and an online troubleshooting forum that was kind enough to respond. Once the clog was clear a steady stream poured for well over a minute. Woo hoo!!
I also managed to find the drain plugs for the trunk (another source of standing water that I hope was linked to the poor drainage).
The hunt for the interior leak- so far unsuccessful. Two out of three- not so bad. Maybe I'll even get that slow tire leak taken care of. Sometime. Eventually.
And, yes, I would buy another convertible. But maybe next time a Jeep.

*pic is of the car enjoying the primo spot in the student lot. The parking gods were smiling. I had a sacrificial coffee in their honor.
